I recently went to a friend’s home. Their like most people that are just starting out living single income and pay check to pay check. They had their Christmas tree up, it was scrawny, uneven and looked like the one Charlie Brown picked up in this famous Christmas show. I loved it and even said so. My friend whose kids are 2 and 4 went into the woods and cut this down. You see it was a tradition in their family to do this every year. His parents never had the pleasure of knowing there grand kids, sadly they were taken from us way too early to witness the birth and life of these great kids. The tradition was important to share so that the memory can be kept alive of those special times they shared with their parents. To a kid the tree doesn’t matter if it’s a beautiful manicured noble or one like Charlie Browns. To a child a Christmas tree is always 20 feet tall, amazing, and represents all the joy and happiness of the season. So this year be like a kid. Enjoy whatever it is you have or received as though it’s all you ever wanted. It’s the little things kids see in you that makes them who they will become later in life. Since I’m not really a sentimental guy I feel I need to add something with a little humor. If you have a choice don’t be an asshole.I don’t care if you got a box of white envelopes at the white elephant Christmas party because someone thought it had to be something white, and you spent the max $25.00 on your gift, be nice and thank them. In general people don’t like assholes and around Christmas where alcohol can be involved this happens more often than not. I guarantee everybody around you will appreciate the effort.
