Things have changed in 30 years.

When listing a property the verbiage you use is just as important as the pictures. In the old days we just said the basics such as 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, 2 car garage etc. Now you’ll see comments like as you enter the property you’ll find mature landscaping which will help you have a calm and relaxing feeling.  I’ve seen others “Our house was influenced by a Feng Shui Master” Looking for a home blessed by a priest? How about made of recycled materials, I’ve seen it all in 30 years. I love the ones that say nothing about the house but target emotions such as, Are you happy and healthy?  Do you have a committed, mutually supportive and satisfying personal relationship? Are your children thriving, respectful, and socially conscious? Are they creative and successful academically? If not then this is the house for you. My job as a Realtor is to make your home sound like it’s amazing even though it may not be. If you’ve been shopping you know what I mean. I just went on a listing appointment on a house I sold 16 years ago. When I sold it to them the house was beautiful, immaculate actually. Unfortunately my clients never did any upgrades and they did nothing to maintain the house.  With this obstacle in front of me I had to get creative so in my listing comments so I wrote “This is maintenance free home”. It wasn’t that I was trying to mislead people, it just seemed to fit.
