I’m a little confused with the news lately. I’m not even sure they do live broadcasting anymore. I think to save money they are running reruns from earlier this year. Just last night I was watching the news and they said we need to shut everything down for two weeks to flatten the curve. I’m positive I’ve heard that before, so I did a little research and yes, 3 major news sources did say on numerous occasions over several months that we just need two weeks to flatten that pesky curve.
Check the facts
So I called them and they assured me they are not doing reruns and this is in fact the two weeks that would change the course of everything. When I asked if this was different from the three prior “two week pauses” they said yes it is! They then explained to me the majority of people only paused for 13 days so it didn’t work. I thanked them for the information and immediately went to my calendar and marked off the 14 days so that I wasn’t part of the problem. I then notified all my family and friends so we could finally get this under control. I’m confident they all appreciated my daily reminders on Facebook and Twitter.
Note to self, learn the new math
Since the news sources were so nice to explain everything to me, I said I had one more question about a report they ran on the Corona virus counts in New York. The reporter on the phone told me that nothing would ever go on the news that wasn’t verified and checked by numerous fact checkers before being released to the public. He added they use the same fact checkers that Facebook uses, so they know it’s accurate. I will admit I was still confused but he assured me that out of the 100 people tested, 123 of those tested positive for Covid. Sadly I heard that out of the 123 who tested positive 319 of them passed on.
Our 2 week pause was issued on 11/18/2020
As we all know our wonderful governor put a 2 week pause on our state during the Thanksgiving holidays. It was strange having no family and friends together and I could tell my wife was depressed after quarantining for 14 days with me. I actually really enjoyed the time alone with her. I made sure every day I told her how nice it was to be quarantined with someone I enjoyed being with. She responded by saying it must be nice. I’m pretty sure she really didn’t mean it, I’ve heard I’m simply delightful to be around.
