Up Close and Personal with Greg

Aw, Spring is finally in the air!  Kim and I have different ideas about how to deal with yard work.

Kim’s thoughts…We have 2ac of trees around our house and we have 5 months of branches & twigs that needs cleaned up and burned as soon as the weather permits.

My thoughts…I’ve been doing some research on how to live greener and provide a better environment for all of us. So I printed a bunch of information off the internet on a few of their recommendations and I gave them to my loving wife. Branches: the article recommends leaving them where they fall because they become compost over time which is good for the soil and in return also makes for a good habitat for bugs which in turn feeds the birds and helps them to live a happy and healthy life. By her response I think she hates birds, I hate to say it but I think she’s a bird hater because she wouldn’t listen to the facts at all. I then also found an article explaining that by burning the branches we create bad carbon dioxide which in turn can kill tree’s which are the habitat for birds. Her response was appalling! I’m seriously thinking about turning her into PETA because even though the evidence overwhelmingly supported my opinion she took all my notes and used them to start the fire for all the branches she just made me pick up.

I’m exaggerating of course!  I leaf blow my property almost on a daily basis. I’ve often said my favorite tool is my leaf blower. By the way I have a Stihl BR 700 Back pack blower that can almost push a car. When I first got it I was so impressed with it I was storing it in our bedroom. When Kim gave me the ultimatum of it or her in the bedroom I decided to store it in the shop. I missed Kim for a couple of months but I think I made the right decision.

Sincerely, Greg

Did you know April is the Best Month to List Your Home for Sale?

The spring housing market is off to the races! The inventory of homes for sale is increasing, buyers are out in force, and interest rates have remained low, I see them around 4%. This has the effect of piquing the interest of buyers and sellers previously on the fence about making a move.

If you believe realtor.com they are saying that the first week of April is actually the best time to list your house for sale! The report used “trends in median listing prices, views per property, home price drops, median days on market, and number of listings on the market.

Listing your home in the first week of April contributes 14x more property views, 5% less competition from other home sellers, and results in the home being sold 6 days faster!  My further detailed in-depth studies also tell me if you use Greg Rosen’s services you may even see better results! My records indicate even up to 5.5 days faster instead of the industry standard of 6! It’s true I just don’t make this stuff up.

For those that know me well enough that you would feel obligated to buy me a gift for my birthday I’m going to make you an amazing offer. If you list your home with me in April you do not, I repeat do not need to buy me a birthday present.  Limited time offer, April only lasts for 30 days this year.

April Quiz Question

Q:  I have about 50 living family members, about 30 close friends and another 50 friends I communicate with regularly.  What percentage of these people have never had me pull some kind of April fools jokes on them over the years?  I couldn’t say for sure so I did come up with a number as an estimate.

When you contact me with the correct answer before the 25th of the month you will be entered into my drawing to win a $50 Visa gift Card.

April fool’s Day.

Most of you may know I was actually born on April 1st. Although the exact history of where the tradition originated is unknown, the most likely answer appears to date back to when the Julian calendar was updated to the Gregorian calendar. It is believed the Scots started April Fools by “hunting the gowk” in which people were sent on phony errands.  Gowk is a word for cuckoo bird, a symbol for fool).  This dates back to 1582 when the Scotts started  dressing up in disguises to fool one another.

Whether or not that story is true, the fun of playing a practical joke is enjoyed in countries all over the world on April 1. In my lifetime I’ve either played or been the recipient of many April Fools jokes. Below are the highlights.

In 1980 a good friend bought 20lbs of rice and put just a little in every single thing I owned in my room in the apartment we shared.  20 years later I still found rice from time to time.

When a friend of mine got a new Job I called his new employer and said I was his Psychologist and I asked if they had experienced any mood swings or multiple personalities yet from my friend.

In the 80’s I owned a VW bug. One birthday morning when it wouldn’t start I determined someone; my good friend of course had removed and hidden the motor.

Knowing my good friends history within a month of getting married I sent him a hand written note from an ex-girlfriend explaining she had twins and he was the father with no return address to answer, I had picture’s and everything.

When a good friend was passed out from a night of drinking myself and others successfully moved him and his bed into the neighbor’s front yard. We added a few playboy magazines some hand lotion and a sign that said “free bed”

Kim said to me once, being your friend is probably a decision a few of your friends have regretted over the years. I disagree, I think I’m adorable.
