After reading my articles in the Gresham Outlook an assisted living center asked if I would do a comedy routine for their residents. They wanted a comedian because laughter releases endorphins which improve brain health. When I asked about compensation, I was met with silence, but after a tough negotiation we agreed on 50cents and a granola bar (my first paid gig!). I started with some nice clean humor, but I found more laughter when I was a little raunchy, especially with the ladies who were there. I would strongly suggest if you’re a man looking for romance you need look no further. I counted 63 women and 8 men in the audience. When I left that night I had 6 phone numbers slipped into my pockets. During the show at least 3 women blew kisses at me and someone threw their bloomers onto the stage. One lady laughed so hard her false teeth fell out on the floor. It was at that point I might have been flashed or maybe something just accidentally fell out when she leaned over to pick them up. Her smile when our eyes met still has me wondering. I’m not sure how I’m liked by the under 50 crowd, but with the over 75 crowd, I kill it.
