How to do 100 transactions with one client.

This is a story about Bill. Bill lives in Sandy and as of 2019 currently owns over 200 units. I met Bill in the late 80’s. I didn’t like him, he was brash and semi intimidating when you first meet him. But for some reason we hit it off. I found out we had many things in common. We went to the same High School and knew many of the same people. We both love travel and he also likes on an occasion to party, and he’s a fun person to party with. You would never know by looking at him that he has acquired so many properties, he drives a 1989 dodge van without hub caps and 28 years later he still drives that same van. People don’t like Bill, the city doesn’t like Bill, Clackamas county planning I’m pretty sure has his face on a dart board because they really don’t like Bill. It isn’t that Bill is an asshole, Bill just likes to get shit done and he has no patients for bureaucratic paper pushers who sit behind a desk all day and have no real concept of construction and the importance of time periods. I’m not saying I would compare him to John Wayne but that is his attitude. Not all people dislike Bill, he’s honest, loyal and really has a heart of gold and that’s why I work with him. Today is a big day for us, today I just started the paperwork on our 100th transaction! I mentioned this to him as I gave him a ½ gallon of Pendleton Whiskey as a way of saying thanks.  I asked him why he was so loyal. He laughed, Greg he said, I trust you more than you know. It’s not about the money with you, you really care and you’re always doing something for others, you are a great guy. Besides you’ve made me millions of dollars over the years and you’re the only Realtor I’ve met that has told me to walk away from a real estate deal because you thought it was a bad investment. And that folks is how you maintain loyalty.
