Is This House Haunted?

How do you choose the Real Estate Broker you want representing you? You can ask friends for referrals, this is a great source but another way is to attend an open house. Watch the agent to see how they interact with you and others. Are they friendly welcoming and proactive? Are they pushy or laid back? Do they greet you immediately? Do they have nice flyers? Do you get the sense they’ve done this many times and still enjoy it or do they seem bored and have that look I have when my wife forces me to go shoe shopping with her. Feel free to ask questions in order to get to know the agent. I’ve had some crazy questions thrown at me over the years. In Sandy I’ve had buyers ask me “is there anybody buried in the backyard” In Damascus I was asked “can I come back at midnight to see how the full moon affects my ora in the backyard”. In Portland I had a couple ask me “why is the garage unfurnished” I wanted to say because I’m pretty sure they use it for their cars, but I didn’t. The one strange question I’ve been asked more times than I can count is “is the house haunted”. When you’re at an open house and you really want to know what the Real estate broker is like, just tell them you aren’t looking to buy and just dropped in, sometimes that statement alone will allow you to see their real personality. Happy shopping people, it’s kind of crazy out there.
