Be like Christopher Columbus, He knew the value in Real estate.

Happy Columbus Day! I love Christopher Columbus, he set out to chart a western sea route to China, India and the fabled gold and spice islands of Asia. Instead, he landed in the Bahamas, becoming the first European to explore the Americas since the Vikings. Most women think if he just stopped one time to ask directions it wouldn’t have taken him 4 trips to find the New world. History books will show you images of Columbus planting a flag in the lower half of Florida but he really only explored a small area of the Caribbean—which included the Bahamas, Cuba, and Jamaica. Historians will tell you he was stuck in Jamaica because his ship rotted out and stranded him. The truth is realizing the possibilities of a vacation paradise with the amazing sandy beaches and some of the best Jamaican rum in the world, He built several small huts and rented them out to passing pirates. Another true but unknown fact was that he was actually the first person to post a home for rent on what is now known as Airbnb. Back then it was known as the Miab, or better known as the “message in a bottle” service. It’s important to understand what this story is telling us. Four hundred years ago a guy that got lost, sunk a ship and became a governor, (probably a Democrate) because he was arrested and removed from office in chains due to corruption, He knew that if you had Real estate in vacation destinations and rented it out you could make money. Today, I’m telling you that you should be more like Christopher Columbus, well not exactly like him because he didn’t really buy land, he just took it and then forced the local people to run it for free, which I’ve heard really pissed a lot of them off. But he did have the right concept, buy real-estate, rent it out, and make some money. This Real estate info brought to you by Greg Rosen Realtor.
